These seminars will help fruit and vegetable farmers in the other regions of the country tap into high-value, export markets for horticulture by sharing insight on how they can better reduce post-harvest losses, extend product shelf-life and increase profits. The main sponsor for the event is Carrier, a global provider of cold chain solutions, and their African representative, ADDFRA. The event is also supported by strategic partners that include the USAID-funded West Africa Trade & Investment Hub (Trade Hub), Federation of Associations of Ghanaian Exporters (FAGE), Vegetable Producers and Exporters Association of Ghana (VEPEAG), Ghana Incentive-Based Risk Sharing System for Agricultural Lending (GIRSAL), ScaleUp Africa and InspiraFarms.
The 3-hour long seminars will be hosted by Prof. Francis Appiah (Professor, Department of Horticulture, KNUST) as the main speaker. The speaker teaches at the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). His background cuts across Postharvest Management, Food Science and Technology, Agribusiness Development, and Agriculture and Capacity Development.
